Ode to Nature by Kaylie
Into the outside
A world of color
Holding fairytales
And secrets no one knows
Cast a shadow
If you dare
Or-
Illuminate the sky
Into a clearing
Of blurry figures
And crisp, clear images
Into the dawn
Where a newborn fawn Dies
Being eaten by the cold
Scary flashes of lightning
Followed by a sudden downpour,
Sucking all the life
Out of the greenery,
Making pale the water,
Apart from its normal blue
Heavy clouds
Lighten
Moving away,
Carrying out any trace of
Rain,
Except for the large puddles
A frog jumps
From lilypad
To lilypad
Rejoicing in the light
Into twilight,
Hushes,
Secrets,
Scary stories,
Hoots of owls,
Chilling cold
Then-
Ignition
Of a tiny spark
A simple flame,
A flickering child,
Grows into a
Terror
That lights fearful animal’s eyes
Knobby knees and
Tree stumps
Running
Into a confusing
Twist of going in circles,
Long strides,
Running
Out of harm’s way,
Birds settle again
Into calmness instead of calamity,
Into the
Voices of nature
Ode to a Canvas
by Kylon
White rectangle,
my hands stretch over it.
I stroke it with a dry brush,
light strokes
testing myself,
testing my painting skills.
Paint finally collides
creating sprouts of orange and red.
The rectangle's blanketed now.
Paint everywhere,
a season on material.
Coats and layers,
swirls of yellow
leaves fly back and forth,
a fall masterpiece.
